Private guide (see the listing) · Nagoya Castle
Two hours on the Nagoya Castle grounds with a guide for your group only, and the castle ticket already in the price. Pick it if you want the palace explained at your pace and don't want to queue at the gate.

This is a new listing with no reviews yet, and it says little beyond its title: a private tour of Nagoya Castle and its palace, two hours, ticket included, from $51. That makes it the only castle-only tour here that both is private and arrives with the 1,000 yen gate ticket paid. Read the full listing for the meeting point and the cancellation terms before you book.
Two hours fits the castle well. The Honmaru Palace takes most visitors about 45 minutes: the Genkan with its tigers and leopards on gold leaf, the Omote-shoin where the first lord Tokugawa Yoshinao held audiences, the Taimenjo with scenes of Kyoto and Wakayama under a lacquered ceiling, and the Jorakuden, built for the shogun Iemitsu's stay in 1634. The rest of the time goes on the grounds: the 1610 stone walls with the crests of the lords who built them, three original corner turrets that survived the 1945 air raid, and the keep from outside.
The keep itself is closed. It has been since May 2018, and the city has set no reopening date for the planned wooden rebuild. A private guide can at least show you where to stand for the best view of the golden shachihoko.
The listing and your confirmation give the meeting spot and time. Gates open at 9:00.
Your guide handles the ticket, which the listing includes, and you head into the grounds.
Shoes off at the entrance. The entrance hall, the audience halls, the Jorakuden and the shogun's bathhouse.
The carved crests on the wall stones, the corner turrets, and the closed keep with its golden shachihoko.

The listing title says the castle ticket is included. The ticket also covers the Honmaru Palace and the treasure museum, so there is nothing else to pay at the gates.
